Calling all artists! We would like to invite young people who’ve stayed with us in the past to send us a drawing, painting, or short poem inspired by their memories of Selva Verde Lodge and our region.
It’s summertime, and usually at this time of year, Selva Verde receives many families with children coming to stay with us. From babies just a few months old to teenagers, this is the time when kids come from near and far to enjoy and explore our region of Sarapiquí. Our founder, Giovanna Holbrook, always feels a special satisfaction to have children at Selva Verde because they are the future; who better to appreciate the rainforest and carry forward its protection? This year, due to the pandemic and tourism still being very limited, we are missing our younger guests. To be quite honest, we are missing our older guests too, as we have received only a trickle of people since our soft opening on June 1. We know that, for now, this is necessary for the health of people everywhere. Meanwhile, we had an idea for bringing kids a little bit closer despite the distance of time and place.
We would like to invite young people who’ve stayed with us in the past to send us a drawing, painting, or short poem inspired by their memories of Selva Verde Lodge and our region. We will display all the entries in our lobby as well as in an upcoming Selva Verde newsletter.
Specifications: Preferred size for artwork is 8.5 x 11 inches. Images can be vertically or horizontally oriented. Poems should be no more than 250 words.
How to submit: Artwork can be scanned or photographed (300 dpi minimum resolution) and submitted as a PDF or JPG. Files can be sent as an email attachment or via a file-sharing service like Dropbox. What to include: When you send your entry, please share a little bit about the image and yourself (the artist), including your first name, age, country of residence, when you visited Selva Verde, and what the image represents. If you would like to include a few words about your picture or describing your favorite memory, we’d love to read them, but that is optional!
